Do you already have some composing experience under your belt and would like to discover how your music sounds when performed by a professional ensemble?

Do you love to experiment and would like to try out some of your musical ideas with seasoned musicians?

Would you like to meet other budding composers and compare projects?

Are you very familiar with notation and have a basic knowledge of music theory but want to take these skills to the next level so that you can turn your musical ideas into a fully formed composition that is ready to be performed?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then COMPOSITION PLUS is the course for you!

There always two sides to music: composition on the one hand, performance on the other. COMPOSITION PLUS consists of three workshops which give you the opportunity to work on your compositions under the expert eye of professional composers, try them out with help from professional musicians, and use this experience to refine your ideas and the soundscape you want to create. Outside of the workshops, our musicians will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about instrument playing techniques. The course ends with a concert  and the public premiere of your work.
COMPOSITION PLUS is open to individuals who study composition at the Basel Music School or who regularly attend composition classes in another setting.

Saturday, 27 August 2022: Induction class
Saturday, 24 September 2022: Workshop I
Saturday, 18 February 2023: Workshop II
Saturday, 29 April 2023: Workshop III
Sunday, 7 May 2023: Concert (premiere performances of the original works)
