Isabel Richiusa’s compositions in the project Columns of Sound transcend the harbour of jazz to reach floaty, poetic, and spheric places. Through a willingness to show vulnerability and fragility, they move between emotional depth and clarity, calm and intensity, emotion and intellect. The compositions reflect on everyday ‘being’: floating, intimate, and expressive music that draws its strength from rhythm and takes on melodically virtuosic forms always staying true to the core and meaning of the song.
